I recently had a conversation with one of my closest friends. She had just completed her last ever semester of Uni and already had multiple jobs lined up. There's something she said that I keep thinking about, "we are magnets for abundance and success".
It's been a big year! I'm extremely thankful for all the opportunities that have been granted my way. Lockdown 2.0 was tough - to be offered a taste of freedom then only to be told that we had to go back into tougher, stricter lockdown? I remember the first few weeks were really hard, as I'm sure it was hard for everyone too. On a positive note, it really grounded me and forced me to focus on uni, work and family. I was lucky enough to transition from a casual job to a full time role that's more related to my career.
Now, full time work and full time uni, while in lockdown, was manageable. As mentioned, lockdown meant we couldn't go out, so all my time was spent just working, studying and online shopping. But with the reemergence of social life and weekend activities, it definitely started to dawn on me that maybe I should reprioritise. I decided to drop my degree to part time (one extra year) to give me a little more time to do the things I enjoy.
So yes, the new job is going great, uni is good, I bought the domain beckywnn.com and I'm grateful to be able to share my experiences through writing. Reflecting on 2021, here are some of the highlights:
Jan/Feb/March
The months of travelling! There was a trip family trip to Berry, road trip to Smiths Lake and a quick flight to Gold Coast. Not many pics unfortunately - I left my phone in an Uber and subsequently lost it and its contents.
Apr
Another family road trip - this time to Port Macquarie/Coffs Harbour. Highlights included Bago Maze and Wine, buying my Made by Fressko coffee cup (highly recommend), visiting a clog house and seeing the big banana. In Autumn, I also forced my family to head to Berambing to the tiktok famous red maple leaves - but epic fail, we missed the autumn spectacular by a week.
Quick story, when I first moved to Sydney we went to this amazing little lolly shop that, I swear, make the BEST wedges. For years we tried to remember where it was to relive that memory, and we found it on our spontaneous trip to Berambing. Goodie Goodie Gum Drops, you've got to try their wedges.
May/Jun
May was all about the friends. Nacho night, a costume party, watching tennis on Fridays, visiting markets. Then just before the lockdown, we managed to pull of a surprise 18th party for my brother! Oh yeah, that pigeon pic... I wish there was a story but really I took the photo, edited it to black and white, then made it my lockscreen.
Jul/Aug/Sep
A few lockdown birthdays via zoom, lots of walks, taking random pictures of flowers, redecorating my room and online shopping.
Oct/Nov
October was the month of the picnics. The chocolate covered strawberries were homemade! Delicious. I reckon she should be a professional - anyone want her contact details? October was a great month, we started to be able to go out.
Enjoy the pictures of extra extra spicy tacos, halloween party, my bento box lunch on my first ever day at the office, bottomless brunch, rediscovering bowling and spending lunch at the MCA.
