It's been a few years since I have been able to travel back to Malaysia to visit my family. When it was announced that the Malaysian border would open on 1st May to all travellers, my mum and I decided to have a quick trip back. Words cannot describe how lucky I feel to be able to see my family after these crazy few years!
Tau Fu Fah @ Funny Mountain, Ipoh
The rest of the food mentioned is in no particular order, but this is at the top of my list because, as I have been telling everyone... This. Changed. My. Life.
I have never had such a smooth Tau Fu Fah, ever. To describe the taste, and for my besties in Aus, this is a sweet, warm dessert that we would usually find in the dessert yum cha cart. I would ask for less sugar when you order, as the standard amount they give is sweet AF. Now now, my granduncle mentioned that this isn't even the best Tau Fu Fah in Ipoh! Apparently, a stall near Concubine Lane was much better than this. Can you imagine if I'm saying this changed my life? What would the other one do to me? HAHA

Variety of Dishes @ Woolley, Ipoh
If you've watched Crazy Rich Asians and seen the scene where they arrive in Singapore and order food from many stalls, that's the same experience at Woolley. My grandma said that the seafood stall was most well known for its sweet and sour sauce, so that's what we ordered. Sweet and Sour crabs. We also got fish, kueh, rojak and popiah.

Claypot Bak Ku Teh @ Klang
I used to come to this particular restaurant when I was really young. It is just as I remembered it, except it's now airconditioned, you still have to pick your own tea and rinse the cups and cutlery with hot water. Luckily my aunt was there to help with rinsing the cups, it is hard to admit, but I'm definitely not a pro. HAHA, I'm only good at eating!
Wonton Mee @ KL (Not sure where)
I ate this 3 times while I was in Malaysia. I hope that tells you how much I love it. It's dry wonton noodles with charsiew and siewyook (BBQ pork and cracking pork belly). SO DELICIOUS. Something about the way this restaurant sauces their noodles...

Soft Boiled Eggs and Pan Mee @ Ipoh
Soft-boiled eggs are my favourite snack whenever I go to Malaysia. It's basically eggs that are not fully cooked, and you add soy sauce and pepper and just slurp it all up.
The pan mee here featured fish ball and the smoothest hand-pulled noodles. No clue where we ate this, but it was terrific. If you're heading to Ipoh soon, I'll ask my grandma.

Satay @ Food Shop in front of Concubine Lane, Ipoh
All I can say is I ate 15 skewers. Sorry to my family for eating all the satay. My bad guys. Also, we had some phat beansprouts, which apparently is a super famous dish in Ipoh.

Nasi Campur @ Ole Ole Bali, KL
Had this with some Soto Ayam. The Nasi Campur is perfect to share and incredibly tasty. It reminded me of Bali hehe.

I actually ate a lot more than what I've mentioned but reminiscing on the food has made me hungry so I'm just going to cut myself off. If you'd like addresses or the names of specific restaurants, shoot me a message on instagram.
