I believe beauty advent calendars are seriously the best things! It's just like opening a surprise for 24 days straight. But are they worth it? Is the ASOS beauty calendar actually worth purchasing? You can jump to my opinion here, or continue reading to find out exactly why I give each day/product a thumbs up or down. Note, I'm not reviewing the products, just giving a first impression on the contents of the advent calendar. My rating scale (from excited to not excited) is 👍Thumbs up, Meh and 👎Thumbs down. Day 1 - Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask

Size: Full size 75ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: I'm excited to try this one. I've heard great things about it and Origins always delivers great skincare

Day 2 - Dr PawPaw Rich Mocha Balm

Size: Full size 25ml

Rating: Meh

Thoughts: A pawpaw cream that is tinted and you can wear as blush? I'm not sure if I'm convinced.

Day 3 - Beauty Works Comb and Argan Serum (Hair)

Size: Full size 30ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: What a cute comb!

Day 4 - Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream

Size: Tiny sample

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: It's so fricking small!! But still I've heard some good things about this brand so I'm keen to give it a go.

Day 5 - Urban Decay Face Primer

Size: Sample 5ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: It's larger than those free sample packs you get usually. Excited to try!

Day 6 - Clinique Take The Day Off Balm

Size: Big sample 15ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: I already know I LOVE this as I've used it before. Super THUMBS UP

Day 7 - Olaplex No3

Size: Big sample 30ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: Again, something I have used and I LOVE. AND its a big sample, amazing.

Day 8 - Revolution Skincare Glycolic Polisher

Size: Full size 100ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: To be honest this is borderline Meh. Interested to try, assuming its a chemical exfoliator? Generous with the size so that's why I gave it a thumbs up. But I haven't heard much about Revolution Skincare so I'm a little weary.

Day 9 - Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

Size: Tiny sample 7ml

Rating: 👎Thumbs down

Thoughts: I dunno, I am pretty such you can ask for this for free at the Estee Lauder counters?

Day 10 - The Ordinary Plant-Derived Squalene

Size: Full size 30ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: YAY, big fan of The Ordinary. Excited to try this! If not I have a friend who I know would love this.

Day 11 - Dainty Professional Eyelashes

Rating: Meh

Thoughts: I can already tell it wont be suitable for my eye shape. But perfect to gift someone else!

Day 12 - Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum

Size: Big sample 10ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: Excited! It's a big sample!

Day 13 - Phychic Sisters Gua Sha

Rating: 👎Thumbs down

Thoughts: I already own a Gua Sha and it definitely does not feel like this one. The surface is bumpy which, correct me if I'm wrong, should not be? Skip

Day 14 - Sleek Makeup 12 hr Kohl Liner Black

Size: Full size

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: Basic eyeliner, I googled the price. $10 from ASOS.

Day 15 - Paradox Repair 3in1 Conditioner

Size: Big sample 30ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: Never heard if this, what's a 3in1 conditioner. I'm excited to do some research and start using it.

Day 16 - Deep Sleep Body Cocoon

Size: Full size 100ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: Its not even opened and I can smell it! I have a feeling I'll love it already.

Day 17 - Invisibobble Scrunchie

Rating: 👎Thumbs down

Thoughts: Can I thumbs down twice? Out of everything in the advent calendar this is the one I am the least excited about. The scrunchie itself is, for lack of better words, gritty. Not a fan. Next please.

Day 18 - Dr Jart Soothing Hydra Solution Sheet Mask

Size: 1 sheet mask

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: I'll definitely use this one for a pamper night! Dr Jart is a Korean brand that specialises in skincare - KEEN.

Day 19 - Ciate Liner

Size: Full size

Rating: Meh

Thoughts: I'm not sure about the colour. Guess we'll see when I test it out.

Day 20 - Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner

Size: Full size 200ml

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: I really wasn't expecting this. This is a $51 toner available on Mecca. Shocked! Excited! WOW. Elemis is a premium brand so I have high hopes for this.

Day 21 - MAC Matte Lipstick in Whirl

Size: Full size

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: I believe this is one of MAC's popular colours. Can't go wrong with a lippie in my opinion.

Day 22 - Le Mini Macaron Nail & Cuticle Oil, and Nail File

Size: Full size 10ml

Rating: Meh

Thoughts: I was about to rate this a thumbs down until I googled it. Excuse me? $20+ for a cuticle oil? It has to be good right?

Day 23 - Iconic London Eyeshadow Palette

Size: 4 colours - I would consider full size

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: The shades look nice. Very fitting for the holiday season or New Years.

Day 24 - Charlotte Tilburry Magic Cream

Size: Tiny sample 7ml

Rating: Meh

Thoughts: This is TINY! I swear if I dip one finger into it its gone. Meh because of the size, but I'd give it a thumbs up if it was bigger. Excited the try the product though.

Day 25 (not actually but the advent calendar came with these items so I'm counting it as a bonus) - Tote Bag and Bandana

Rating: 👍Thumbs up

Thoughts: Quality tote bag and the bandana is cute. Thumbs up!

So, is it worth it?

Yes! Although there are a few tiny samples, I am still excited to try out the products. For $120 (usual price $150), I'd definitely recommend it as a present for anyone who enjoys beauty and skincare. There are a lot of well-known brands in this advent calendar which really adds to its appeal.
