Happy New Year everyone! Hope you had a great end to 2021 and I wish you all great fortune and health in 2022. Sydney's NYE day was bright and sunny - this called for an adventure to end the year. Jump to a rundown of the walk here.

We left at about 11:30ish on the 31st of December for Wattamolla Falls, the infamous jump rock within the Royal National Park. On our way there, huge sign saying "Wattamolla FULL" was displayed on the highway. Now this was Friday, the last day of the year AND we had left quite late for our adventure. After stopping at the Heathcote Maccas, we decided to not test our luck and instead divert to a different walking track.

After parking at Heathcote station, we took the path down to Karloo Pools. The hike is about 2.6kms and took us about 45mins.

Although it was sweaty, the hike down was manageable. I even held my phone in one hand and an esky in the other. At the end of the hike was this amazing rockpool which was the perfect place for a quick dip after walking through the bushes.

One thing I would recommend doing is bringing lots of water and snacks. We made the mistake of not bringing enough water and really suffered on the way up. Now now now, can I just tell you about not expecting the difficulty of the walk back up. Obviously, if you're walking downhill, you'd think hey I will have to go back uphill a little later right? Nope, I didn't think about it. I swam so hard and used up so much energy at the pool that when it came time to hike back uphill, I struggled hard as I was not mentally prepared.

BUT in saying that, we loved it so much that I went AGAIN with another group of friends on the 2nd day of the New Year. This time, we got to the pool a little earlier and there were more people - but definitely not packed.

You can jump into the pool from one side, but it seems you have to run-up and launch yourself off the rock. The water looks shallow but it is deep enough to jump.

Most importantly, I mentally prepared myself for the walk back up. It felt so much easier than the first time. Maybe I got fitter? HAHHA

We were all smiles or the way up.

Let me know how your New Year's went! Wishing everyone the best happiness, success and to be able to achieve their dreams in 2022.
