Trying raw meat for the first time - 6Head Sydney

Since November last year, I have been pestering my boyfriend about going to 6Head. It's a restaurant that consistently comes up in suggestions and keeps appearing in posts such as "The Best Restaurants in Sydney" or something similar. While my social life has taken up almost every free weekend, around February we finally had the chance to go.

As a starter, we ambitiously went with the Lamb Tartare. For context, I am the type of person who likes their steak medium well - the lest pink as possible before being too tough, so this was a totally out there decision to try raw meat. But my oh my am I glad we did. The meat was cured and came out as a salty delicious blend of peas and some kind of herb. It was paired with the warmest, softest bread and the creamiest egg on top. I've been telling everyone that this dish was life changing. It was a totally new palette and new experience and this tartare is something I would definitely go back for.

On the night we went, they had sold out of the steak that I was hoping for. Fortunately, the restaurant was having a special of 600g Wagyu Rib Eye to share. It came with steak fries and a salad (which was loaded with cheese so unfortunately I had to give it a skip). We also ordered Wagyu Potato and pepper sauce to go alongside our main.
It was quite exciting to be honest, the steak came out and was sliced table-side for us. It was also finished with volcanic salt (at least that's what I think he said it was). Tiny bit of salt bae vibes. Honestly, it was really tender, filling and cooked to perfection. Looking at the images it doesn't look like much but let me tell you, I was struggling to finish it. The potato was okay, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside edges, but toward the middle it was a bit undercooked - the flavour was great though.
I'd tell you how the drinks went but I really don't remember HAHAH sorry!! I feel like you can't go wrong with a cocktail and every drink we ordered tasted good. So there's that. At this point of the night, I was stuffed. I'm sure we'll be back next time to try other dishes and their dessert.
Overall a really enjoyable experience! I'd definitely say it's not just social media hype, if you want a good steak date night 6Head is a yes.
